SPELLO

Fun Homeschooling game perfect for multi age play

Object of the Game

Create Cooperation, equal play, and good spellers!

To make lines of six matching medallions, and use up all of your
medallions first, meaning you spelled the most correct words first.

Making the Board & pieces

Make a 36 square board with the word SPELLO written across
the top above the squares

Make up to 6 sets of 15 matching medallions one set for each
child. We made 15 rubber duck’s 15 boats and 15 flowers … unique but all the same.

Rules For play

Mom says a spelling word appropriate for the age of the
first child. If they can spell it correctly they place one medallion on the
board in any available space.

If they cannot spell it, the other children get the chance
to spell, their word and place there own medallion.

Ever child gets there own word in order of turn, even
if they guessed there siblings word resulting possibly in more than one turn in
a row.

For younger children I said the word, and they could either
tell me the letters or point to the correct letters on a letter chart.

Blocking and unblocking a line

If one child wants to block an opponents line, after they
have spelled their word correctly they must win this privilege by spelling two additional
age appropriate words and than can place their tile blocking their opponent.

You can block a block or remove a placed blocking medallion
by the victim, by also spelling two age appropriate words correctly. Resulting
in no block and no new medallions on the board,

If the victim wants
to unblock as their rightful turn then the correct answer of two words can reclaim
their line and they may place a medallion. If only one word is correct, they
have to place their medallion somewhere else on the board.

When a square is unblocked after a medallion had been
place, the blocker may choose to purchase and co-share the square or choose to
loose their medallion placement on the board and reuse it later.

Co-sharing a square

An opponent may perchance with help, the co-use of an existing
used square from another opponent. To purchase the co- use, the purchaser must
agree to lend a hand in correctly spell a word for the player when they have
spelled their word wrong. If through cooperation, they have spelled the word (or
new word for a younger partner), correctly, the player may place a new medallion
on the board with gratitude.

Only one use per square, or until correct spelling, and
help is achieved.

When a Line is achieved

The player yells out “SPELLO”, in honor of their achievement!

Easy as pie !!

Easy as pie!

I had always wanted to make pie. When I was young, I had a
friend whose Moms freezer was always filled with Pies, Mrs. Wannop. Although
before the marriage of her boys she never had daughters, but did she? Even
though we only had dinner there once, that I recall her feminine skills in
caring for her hungry boys and husband impressed me. So When My son came home
from school with a pie recipe that was easy, I was hooked, and it has been easy
as pie ever since. Thank you Mrs. Wannop for sharing your motherly love with
many daughters.

Crust

2Cups Flour

¾ Cups lard or butter

5 tbsp Cold water

Bit of salt

That’s it!!!!

Cut it to an even crumble,

then form two balls
(top-Bottom)

role it out between parchment or wax paper and place in tin or
tins depending

peel off one layer of paper, slide hand under neath then fold together paper sides touching than lay in pan and fold back down,Or put your hand under and place the pan on top then with both hands flip it over .

Even it out as best as you can then press firmly into bottom .

If you find that there are bits missing just moisten a finger and press on a little of the excess for elsewhere

The fillings

I never realized it could be so easy that you really need no
recipe to make a filling that is sooo good!

Fruit fillings

Apple is easy

Core and cut enough apples to fill the pie heaped than toss
with 1c or less sugar and some cinnamon than cover – brush water on the top and
sprinkle with sugar.

Bake 350* until
golden brown

Berries are breezy

Heap the shell with berries. I like blue berries,
now place
four very heaped soup spoons full of brown sugar on top,

than cover well with a
light~ heavy layer, (but not too heavy) of corn starch.

spread out the sugar
and starch mixing it into the berries.

Cover with top

Tuck in gently around the berries

Pinch edges together

With a sharp knife cutting against the pan slice of excess dough

Now for the scallops it a pinch really you should have no trouble
hold your hand like you would with a pencil, then place your hand onto the pan with middle finger underneath the lip, thumb, and pointer in the pinch position on top. Then pinch and move around placing one finger in last pinch this will space them nicely

and prick three times
with a knife on the top to release the hot air,
brush with water than sprinkle
with brown sugar.

Bake @ 350* until golden brown and boiling inside. Let cool slightly
so it thickens before serving

Meat is a treat

There are a few different kinds of meat pies; they are truly
no harder than making stew or browning burger.

A true no veggie meat pie (onions and mushroom ain’t veggies)

Slice onion and brown lightly with burger until cooked.

Add
some mushrooms and spice the way you like it .
place in pie shell sprinkle well
with corn starch add enough water to half way up the shell

cover, and bake at 300* until dark golden
brown

Ancient recipe calls for a whole steak placed in the
shell with spices than covered and cooked until tender

Meat and veggie Pie

Par cook potatoes and carrots just till almost tender add
largely sliced onion or fine if you need to hide it from the kids Toss with
browned spiced stew meat in a little of it own thickened gravy fill shell
heaped adding only enough of the gravy to almost fill the shell you can add

A Half Baked Idea On half Jobs

A half baked Idea on half jobs

In our home like all other homes, there are times when it isn’t
all done unto the lord if you get my drift. So after much prayer seeking advice
from the lord one morning I awoke with a revelation I would like to call my Half-Baked
Idea. Firstly, I would like to state for the record that my husband pre-approved
my plan.

It all started one creative morning when the Lord Impressed upon me a
creative way to deeply impress upon the minds of our children and our
unfortunate house guest the importance of doing everything for the Lord. That
to do a half job impacts the whole Family and as in the Children of Israel the
Whole camp. How one disobedience or neglect to follow instructions effect the
results and us all as they can have very serious, even deadly. I awoke early
this particular morning with a giggle thinking upon the enjoyment I would get
over the next few days completing the creative impression I was about to make
on my family. Cooking for the next few day although a little more work to
prepare this half-baked Idea would be the most pleasure I have had cooking in
some time, As I schemed and planed with Holy inspiration. (Talk about taking
delighting in His presence) by supper, I was ready. The first silent lesson I
fed to my family and guest with the exception of my silent partner was a yummy fried
chicken and carrot sauce over ice-cold mashed potatoes. I was so surprised
actually that there were no complaints and when I asked how every thing was, I
got mmmm good. Then a little one piped up hmm the potatoes are ice cold but
good! The little ones are so honest, and I knew she would help break the polite
silence of my plans. The next morning we had porridge my honey and house guest ate first while the little ones slept. I cooked a half pot served my honey then
added hot water to the remainder, along with two cups of raw oatmeal and served
it immediately with a little stir. My silent partner smiled as he watched our
polite guest chew his porridge and politely thank me for breakfast. The
children ate with out a peep. Then for lunch, I upped the ante with some yummy
potatoes soup. I cooked a delicious soup then added some extra raw potatoes I
had set aside along with an onion peel, and two potatoes peels, simmered it for
just a bit leaving them still crunchy, and served the soup. I served honey some
soup as well but missed a few crunchy potatoes by oops with a guilty smile. With
deliberation, I served the soup making sure to doctor the special ingredients
into our guests bowl along with a peel in my known squeakers bowl. They chewed
away deliberately and quietly. Our guest gagged a little, removed the onion
peel placed it to the side of His dish, and proceeded to politely eat the
crunchy potato peel. At last, the silence broke from my little one with,
“What’s this doing in here”. I shrugged and said to her "well you know how
those peels fly don’t you"! As she often helps me peel, and has had to
clean up flying peels. Then daddy remarked, "Don’t tell or every one will
want one", then she found and onion peel hmm she said what’s this dong in
there? Then to add to the fun I remarked playfully "ya, especially since
there aren’t any onions in the soup”. At that, eyeballs popped, and throats
gulped, and our guest went cautiously up for seconds. As I cleaned up lunch, I
carefully planned the next meal this would be the grand finally with lesson
time to follow. It would be the meal to end all half-baked meals, and would
need to be followed up by an edible meal. The meal was steak potatoes &
carrots, gravy, and beets. To follow, the real meal prepared with love and care,
homemade tortillas wraps, a simple yummy follow-up and quick to prepare while
daddy taught the lesson. After lunch, I put some nasty freezer burnt steak in
the oven on low to cook allllll day. I hid the nasty smell with a little basil.
I pre cooked some rice for the
