Memories Last Babies don't!

October 26, 2013
This was a gentle reminder from the father to me to day but i know it it for all of us this! Today is only a fleeting memory, and will never return tomorrow. there will always be more laundry to do, and more dishes to wash for the rest of your life, but the little feet that walk through are only a whisper in time and will soon walk away enjoy every moment in including the messy high chairs ,dirty diapers ,the nasty presents left in drawers ,.the shoved pot cupboard that empties on your toes and the crayons on the stairs because believe it or not you will miss this day and even regret how you wasted these passing moments . - Melody

Nursing Nuggets

There is a lot of information out there on nursing, most from a medical perspective but when baby comes, somehow a lot of it kinda flies out the window. With all the sudden hair raising busy of your new sweet baby often our visions of motherhood are blurred after the birth. Whether it is from trauma, or just being tired, there is still hope still for you. You just need a little support to hold your hand, and not your boob, not from a book but from another mamma who has been there!
With our first, little one and I do mean little he was two pounds. Nursing was so hard, and I had no help, or support to encourage me to try different things. I pumped for him until he was 6 months, and big enough to suck, just to have a very confused and angry baby wondering “what is this so”! I gave up, what else was I supposed to do? After all, “6 months well that was all I was nursed for”! However, I felt gypped. 8 yrs later I tried again, she was an incredible nursery, but my husband had a tumor, and I was fighting pneumonia, I felt selfish enjoying my sweet times with her, when my family needed me too. Not to mention I had a bottle of formula in the cupboard that had been calling me, tormenting me in the wee hours of the night, as I sat up with her falling asleep. One bottle turned in to another until I no longer had enough milk to bother. Then came Josiah, and with determination I was going to nurse him as long as I could. The first smart thing I did was, not allow any formula in the house. I threw all temptations out the window, and man did he eat every few minuets he was eating. He was an eating machine, all day all night it never stopped. I would fall asleep nursing him in the chair hoping to put him back to bed only to wake up to the next feeding . Well enough was enough, so we climbed in to bed together, and that was the end of my sleepless endless nights. We snuggled, slept, and nursed through the night all the way, until he was 11 months I even took him to work waitressing and nursed between orders we were a team. Now with little blessed I can say nights are sooo sweet as she sleeps in her bed all night and then snuggles down with mommy in the wee hours until morning .
I must say every baby is so different their personalities go right into there nursing. Some wiggle, some snuggle, some snore, and some stand on there heads, but every baby can nurse and every Mommy’s boob can feed them. Color shape and size has no bearing, even an adoptive mother can produce milk for her baby, and God made every mommy to feed them. Sometimes it just takes more work to get into your rhythm and theirs.
Nursing is not a sexual thing! If you are being told, it is gross and sexual abuse of your baby. Than well they don’t know, the designer who made it. God made boobs with different functions and one yes is fun bags, but there first function is to sustain life. The sensations given during nursing are completely different from that of intimacy with your husband. If we compared nursing to fun you would never have it, it is just not there! The pleasures from nursing come from sinking your eyes deep into there’s and devouring intensely there little sighs of satisfaction watching they eyes roll in enjoyment and being thrown delightful smiles because they know they are loved and safe . Scripture says, “I was made to hope upon my mothers breast”
Nursing in public is good but sharing our treasures with passing strangers is not modest, Please cover up not every one wants to see what the Good Lord Gave you. My honey actually received a head injury from a topless woman nursing, not at her hand, but because, wile trying to avert his eyes he walked into a suspended pillar. So out of respect for our men and youth, show healthy nursing in public while showing modesty. This can be done by using a sling or a nursing shawl or a nursing dress or shirt. Nursing may be beautiful to see, but treasures should be hidden so their value is not to be stolen, diminished, or common.
